About Examine Evidence

Examine Evidence is a web app for evidence synthesis: you search or import studies, screen and classify them with rules, AI reviewers and people, and build evidence maps that show where research is dense and where it is thin. Every decision, by a person or by AI, is recorded.

What it does

An evidence map is a table that counts the studies on a topic by two classifications, such as outcomes and interventions. It shows at a glance where research is dense and where it is thin. Examine Evidence takes you from a search or a file of references to that map: import, screening, classification, mapping, and a way to check the AI against your own judgements. Everything is a classification, made by rules, AI or people, over categories that people define.

Quick is free to start and makes a map fast. Studio is a full workspace for teams. Agentic is in beta. See the plans and the questions and answers.

Principles

Humans stay in control

AI reviewers propose; people decide. You can override any AI answer, and your decision counts.

Every AI decision is recorded

Each AI call is saved with its model, its answer and its reason, so a result can be checked later. The privacy notice explains what is sent to AI providers.

No silent AI failures

When an AI call fails, the study is flagged as needing review or the job is marked failed. Examine Evidence does not switch to another model, guess with keywords or quietly exclude the study.

Your data stays yours

Your libraries, tags and maps belong to you. What we collect and why is in the privacy notice; where it is stored is stated there too.

Evidence, not hype

We say what the tool does and where it stops. Example maps on this site use synthetic data and say so. A map shows where evidence is; reading it is still your job.
